An award-winning computer scientist and research portfolio director, Gunjan Verma specializes in advancing next-generation wireless communications, autonomous systems, and machine learning. At the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, he served in dual roles as ML Research Engineer and R&D Portfolio Lead, managing a multi-million-dollar research portfolio across more than 30 of the nation’s top universities. With over 75 publications and 1,500+ citations, his research has been featured in leading journals and conferences spanning AI, networking, and robotics.
As Principal Data Scientist at Flextion, Gunjan leads the design and deployment of next-generation AI strategies for quantitative finance — integrating deep domain expertise with modern machine learning to optimize manager selection and maximize client outcomes.
His work has earned numerous distinctions, including the 2025 Civilian Service Commendation Medal from the Secretary of the Army, recognition from DARPA and NATO, and multiple ARL Awards for excellence in research, communications, and leadership. Gunjan holds B.S. degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Economics from Rutgers University, and M.S. degrees in Applied Statistics (Duke University) and Applied Mathematics (Johns Hopkins University).
